Jendo Named Sri Lanka's Most Promising Tech Startup at Seedstars Colombo

On October 19th during Seedstars Colombo, Jendo won the Sri Lankan round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.

Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its Sri Lankan round to a successful close during Seedstars Colombo. The event took place this Wednesday at the Hive @ Foster Lane, and eight selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel.

 

The local winner, Jendo, is a system providing customers with an accurate and reliable measurement of their cardiovascular health by measuring their endothelial functionality.

 

Jendo will be participating at the both the Seedstars Asia Regional Summit in Bangkok from November 27th-29th, and the Seedstars Global Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018. The Global Summit is a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 75 local winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investments.

 

Alakazam,an intelligent bot that assists small businesses with their sales and marketing came in second place. BlueLotus 360, an AI-enabled SaaS based Cloud ERP solution for medium and large construction, manufacturing and trading companies, rounded out the top three. The other startups who were invited to pitch were BotFactory, DirectPay, Gradchat, Mogo Super and Omentra.

 

The eight startups pitched in front of a prestigious jury consisting of Jeevan Gnanam from Orion City, Sachindra Samararatne from the ICTA, Shahani Markus from Emojot, Martin Karanja from GSMA, Mangala Karunaratne from Calcey Technologies and Adriana Collini from Seedstars.

 

Seedstars World’s Ambassador for Sri Lanka, Mangala Karunaratne, organized the event with Seedstars World’s main partner Orion City. Further crucial support was provided by MAS Innovation and Exetel. SLASSCOM’s and Startup Sri Lanka’s support was also invaluable to a successful event and to bringing Jendo to the Summits. Seedstars Colombo was furthermore supported by the ICTA, as a national partner, and Aramex as a prize partner offering logistics services to the winning startup.

 

Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is Kathmandu at the Shanker Hotel on the 23rd of October, to select the most promising startup in Nepal. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
