Meet the 8 Most Promising Early-Stage Tech Startups Selected for Seedstars Seoul
On August 2nd, 8 of Korea’s best seed stage startups will compete to represent the country at the Global Seedstars Summit and win up to USD 1 million in equity investments.
Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes has brought its pre-selection rounds to an end and selected 8 promising tech startups to pitch at the Seedstars Seoul pitching event on August 2nd at 6pm at D.CAMP.
Korea was previously represented by Piquant, an innovative IoT liquid scanner that detects harmful chemicals. Out of 65 competitors, Piquant went on to win Seedstars’s ‘Most Innovative Startup’ award at this year’s Global Summit in Switzerland. This win continues Korea’s successful streak of sending strong representatives to Seedstars: Flitto was Seedstars’s first ever Global Winner in 2013.
The top startups to advance to the grand final are:
-
Allb: a wearable for babies that alerts parents via their smartphones as to the baby’s vitals, that is primarily intended to avoid Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
-
BluePrintLab: cloud-based, online 3D modeling software.
-
Jobfinder: provides employment opportunities for foreign nationalities in their adopted countries.
-
Profound: a marketplace connecting consultants and industry experts with clients in need of spot and project consulting.

The startups will pitch in front of a jury that consists of Nathan Millard from G3 Partners, Hong Wa Poon from Merck, Yong-Moon Kim from Tandem Investors, Siwan Kim from D.CAMP, Gin Hyeon from Ascan, and Adriana Collini from Seedstars.
In order to deliver the best possible event and to provide local entrepreneurs with this opportunity, Seedstars is working closely with their main partner G3, as well as D.CAMP who will host the event, and BrewDog who will keep the audience refreshed throughout the pitches.
On a regional level, Seedstars is also partnered with the Merck Accelerator, in order to support seed-stage companies in Korea, and across Asia and Africa with a focus on the fields of healthcare, life science and performance materials. The most promising HealthTech startups will receive office space in the Merck Innovation Center in Kenya or Germany, mentoring and coaching on a regular basis and financial support of up to €50,000.
Members of the public are encouraged to come join the fun and will be treated to the 8 startup pitches as well as a panel featuring the founders of Piquant and Flitto.
