OCHENG NAMED CHINA’S BEST STARTUP AT SEEDSTARS SHANGHAI
On August 24th during Seedstars Shanghai, OCheng won the China round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.
Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its China round to a successful close during Seedstars Shanghai. The event took place this Thursday in Caohejing Hi-Tech Park's InnoClub, and 8 selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel.
The local winner, OCheng, providing an end to end social CRM platform use AI to send personalized message to millions wechat followers driving engagement and purchase, was selected the best startup in China for its adjective solution. As a part of the prize, OCheng will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 65 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investment.
Rikai Labs that engages and educates WeChat users by blending ChatBots powered by AI and live people came second and Maijin, a platform that enable brands and agencies to engage with millions of university students across China through competitive projects, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were: Celluster Technology, Move Shanghai, SPIRIT, Stellour and AnyHelper.
The startups will pitch in front of a jury that consist of Dr. Hugh Rashid, Founder & Managing Partner of Xavor Corporation, Darren Camasco, Strategy Consultant at Input Output, Joselyn Zhou, Private Angel Investor, Michael Lai, Chief X Evangelist & Partner at TANG Consulting, Sophie Sun, Head of Strategy & Transformation at Merck China as well as Rosie Keller, Asia Associate at Seedstars.
Seedstars Shanghai also featured speaker Mike Zheng, of Zhang Yu & Partners who discussed the future of law firms confronted with AI. Moreover, we are supported by or regional partner Merck, who is looking for health tech startups across the region. Munya Chivasa, Head of Accelerator at Merck, who provided insights in their accelerator program and work with health tech startups around the world. Further support is provided by swissnex China, Chinaccelerator, XNode, the Free Entrepreneurs, TusPark and Caohejing High-Tech Park.
Continuing on its world tour of startup scenes in emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, Seedstars World’s next stop is Hong Kong at SME Center, HKTDC, to select the best startup in Hong Kong.
