REHABGLOVE NAMED GEORGIA’S MOST PROMISING STARTUP AT SEEDSTARS TBILISI

On September 16 during Seedstars Tbilisi, RehabGlove won the Georgia round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.

Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its Georgia round to a successful close during Seedstars Tbilisi. The event took place last Saturday in TechPark Georgia, and 10 selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of the local jury panel.

The local winner, RehabGlove, which treats stroke rehabilitation with cutting-edge Virtual Reality Technology, was selected the best startup in Georgia for its outstanding solution. As a part of the prize, RehabGlove will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2018, a weeklong training program with the opportunity to meet the other 65 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of the audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investment.

 

LingWing with its platform to activate reactive speed of launching the conversation in a foreign language, came second and ORsim VR, which is Virtual Reality Surgical Education and Training Platform for Medical Professionals, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were CloudCEO, CNICK, Construct Ge, Deskomy, Health-Hub, PawwwN, and STYX.

 

The ten startups pitched in front of a prestigious jury, including Aieti Kukava, CEO at Alliance Group Holding, Konstantine Chanturia,  Risk Officer & Head of Analytics at Partnership Fund, Alex Matua, Director at Procredit Bank, Jaba Burjaliani, Founder at Startup Marani, Giorgi Laliashvili, Specialist at Strategic Department, and Daria Golikova, Associate at Seedstars World.

 

Seedstars Tbilisi also featured speakers Gary Whitehill, Chief Futurist of the African Union, who presented "Embrace the Unexpected: The Entrepreneur’s Journey.", and Ludovic Gired, founder of Pepela, who participated in the fireside chat. The local Ambassador of Seedstars World, Aieti Kukava, organized the event with Seedstars World’s local partners Alliance Group Holding, Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency, G4G Georgia (USAID) and BIA. Further support was provided by Gurieli, Cherie, OZONE, Sweet Country, and media partners Georgia Today, Marketer.ge, BFM, Caucasus Business Week, iPress, iBusiness, BPI, Jako FM. The event attracted interest from over 50 startups and over 100 attendees.
