Seedstars World is coming to Tbilisi to find the most promising startup from Georgia

On September 16, 10 of Georgia’s best seed stage startups will compete to represent the country at the Seedstars Summit and win up to USD 1 million in equity investment.

Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes is coming to Georgia for the 2nd time. With the support of the local host Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency, Seedstars World will be holding a dynamic pitch event on September 16, 2017. In line with its mission to place the spotlight on entrepreneurs from emerging markets, Seedstars World is traveling to more than 80 countries this year to identify the best seed-stage entrepreneurs and provide them with an opportunity to win up to USD 1 million and network with investors and mentors from around the world. Its previous participants have raised over USD 61M collectively, providing employment to more than 1000 employees worldwide.

The companies selected to pitch at the Seedstars Tbilisi event need to have the following criteria:

  • be less than 2 years old
  • have raised less than USD 500,000 in funding
  • has built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction.

The Seedstars World team is searching for one additional criterion - the startup’s regional and global scalability. With a strong network of international partners such as BBVA, Merck, Enel, Trecc, Standard Bank and Deloitte, Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and develop profitable products for the global market, to support their regional businesses and growth.

Seedstars World is closely working with Alliance Group Holding, Georgia's Innovation and Technology Agency GITA, and Governing for Growth in Georgia project, in order to deliver the best possible event and to provide local entrepreneurs with this opportunity.

The startups will pitch in front of a jury that consists of Aieti Kukava (Chairman at Alliance Group Holding), Konstantine Chanturia (Chief Risk Officer & Head of Analytics at Partnership Fund), Natia Tkhilaishvili (CEO at ProCreditBank), Jaba Burjaliani (Founder at Startup Marani), and Daria Golikova (Associate for CEE region at Seedstars World).

The event will have a special guest from Silicon Valley - Gary Whitehill, who will deliver a keynote presentation: “Embrace the Unexpected: The Entrepreneur’s Journey”. In addition, Panel discussion on the topic: “Entrepreneurship Reality in Georgia. How to make a business here” will be delivered by panelists: Sandra Asatiani - Co-Founder at GeoLab, Ludovic Gired - Founder at Pipela, Vasil Khorava - CEO at Wissol.
